FAQ

Does the Bringer of Blades PoE2 build use unique items?
Mark Roberts said GGG intentionally avoided uniques on this showcase so players could see standard-gear potential. The demo used a new epic sword with Karui magic on buried blades, not a named unique from the loot pool.
What is the main skill in Bringer of Blades?
Earthrend creates buried blades, supported in the video by Kaom's Madness for efficiency and Electrocute for crowd control. Blade Conduit refreshes lightning on all blades.
How do you enter Sand Stance in the GGG demo?
Mark used Combat Frenzy to generate Frenzy Charges, then Sand Scour to enter Sand Stance before Blade Plunge to spawn sand disks on every buried blade.
Is Bringer of Blades an ascendancy build?
No. Mark stated both developer Duelist builds were not ascended; ascendancies were teased for Exilecon after the segment.
Where did GGG show this build?
In Path of Exile 2: Duelist Deep Dive and 0.5.5 Event League on YouTube (video WMo3RYyr4vY), starting around 10:17 with Mark Roberts.

What is the Bringer of Blades PoE2 Duelist build?

Bringer of Blades is the first endgame setup Grinding Gear Games showed for the Duelist in the official Deep Dive: a buried-blade loop built around Earthrend, lightning charging, and Sand Stance bursts. Mark Roberts presented it as a developer-made showcase at about 10:17 in the video, using standard gear only (no unique items) and no ascendancy. GGG has not published skill numbers, passive allocations, or item stats for this build.

Which skills and supports did GGG use?

The core loop is Earthrend with the lineage support Kaom’s Madness to create buried blades efficiently. Blade Conduit charges those blades with lightning; Mark noted you can add the Astral Projector support if you want to place shocked ground from range with less risk. A second Earthrend link uses Electrocute for crowd control.

Mark’s clearing advice in the footage is straightforward: spam Earthrend, then refresh lightning on the blades with Blade Conduit when needed. For bigger packs or tougher enemies, the demo adds Combat Frenzy to generate Frenzy Charges, enters Sand Stance with Sand Scour, and uses Blade Plunge so sand disks appear on every buried blade. Eroding Sands strips armour because sand disks hit many times, and the new Sandstorm support infuses those disks with lightning.

GGG also showed a support (name not spoken in the segment) that makes buried blades project small auras that increase your damage, plus a new passive notable visible in the footage that generates rage on hit while you stand near your blades. For maximum blade count, Mark used Rain of Steel to fill the arena with buried swords, then ran the same lightning and sand combos on top.

How does the rotation work in the demo?

Mark did not give a rigid step-by-step priority list like a league starter guide. The spoken loop is:

  1. Lay down buried blades with Earthrend (and Rain of Steel when you want the whole screen covered).
  2. Refresh charged lightning across the blades with Blade Conduit as needed.
  3. When you want Sand Stance power, generate Frenzy Charges (Combat Frenzy), press Sand Scour, then Blade Plunge so sand disks and lightning-infused sandstorms roll across every blade.
  4. Keep Eroding Sands active so armour-stripped enemies take full value from the many small hits.

Jonathan Rogers’ earlier segment on Earthrend combos (Ready Stance walls, Charged Slash on blades, held Blade Plunge explosions) is the general toolkit this build extends, but Mark’s Bringer of Blades reel focuses on the Kaom’s Madness + Conduit + Sand Stance package rather than every optional combo.

What gear did this showcase use?

Mark explicitly said the team tried not to use unique items on Bringer of Blades so players could see potential with ordinary gear and skills. The demo sword shown later in the segment boosts buried blades with Karui magic so they become ancestrally boosted; Mark pointed to new passive notables for boosted attacks on the tree, but he did not quote base types, rarity rolls, or explicit stat lines.

GGG has not said how this sword is obtained or named every support socket shown on screen. If a detail is missing from the Deep Dive, we list it as unknown rather than guessing.

How does Bringer of Blades compare to Scourge Walker?

Both builds come from the same developer segment and were not ascended in the footage. Bringer of Blades is the non-unique, lightning-and-sand buried-blade showcase; Scourge Walker is the fire, bleed, and Cyclone build stacked with uniques such as Oro’s Sacrifice. Ascendancy classes were teased for Exilecon but not applied to either demo.
